Although my primary painting interests are horses and dogs, I do accept a few traditional life size people portraits. I researched and now use the limited palettes of Gilbert Stuart, John Singleton Copley and Thomas Sully to create the richness of the classic portraitists of the late 1700s. The cadmium colors among many others had not been invented, and I found by using the same earth pigments from that era prior to 1780, I could achieve the old world look I wanted. I love the challenge.
